It is a beautiful spring day in Houma. Can you believe that the temperature is only 63 degrees?!?  It feels as though it is March instead of May.

We want our visitors to know that as of May 17, 2011, there is no flooding reported in the Houma area. Please contact our office, 1-800-688-2732, for updated information before travelling to our area.

Residents in the potential flood zone are working hard to protect their homes and businesses, and local and state government offices are working around-the-clock to keep the residents safe and informed.

2011 Flood Threat for Terrebonne Parish

While it is still safe to travel to Louisiana and the Houma area, we would like for our travelers to be up to date with real time information concerning the Mississippi River flooding and the opening of the Morganza Spillway. Houma and its surrounding communities are located in Terrebonne Parish (county.) The western portion of Terrebonne Parish, including the communities of Gibson and Bayou Black, are expected to receive some backwater flooding due to the opening of the Morganza Spillway. As of Monday, May 16, 2011, there is no flooding in the Houma area.
